Recruitment & placement is free for seafarers — we are paid by our shipowner clients, per MLC 2006. Our compliance policy

Compliance & no-fees policy

What we promise seafarers, what we promise shipowners, and how to report anyone misusing our name.

1. Recruitment and placement are free for seafarers

  • We do not charge seafarers any recruitment or placement fees, directly or indirectly — no registration fees, no processing fees, no visa facilitation fees, no "guaranteed placement" fees, no deductions from wages.
  • This mirrors MLC 2006, Regulation 1.4 and Standard A1.4, under which the cost of recruitment and placement is borne by the shipowner, not the seafarer. The narrow permitted exceptions under MLC (costs of national statutory medical certificates, national seafarer's book and passport) are the seafarer's own documents obtained from state authorities — we never sell them or mark them up.
  • Our crewing revenue comes exclusively from shipowner clients under crew management agreements.

2. Training is a separate business

  • Our academy sells STCW courses at published, fixed prices. Enrollment is open to anyone, seafarer or not.
  • Courses are training only. We never promise, imply, sell or bundle employment with a course.
  • Recruitment decisions are made by the crewing desk on merit — certificates, sea service, medicals, references and client requirements. Buying a course from us is not a factor, and not buying one is not a factor.
  • Refunds and cancellations follow the published academy terms; they are never conditioned on withdrawing or continuing a job application.

3. Verification and honest listings

  • Every vacancy published on this site corresponds to a real crew request from a contracted owner or manager, with a reference number, pay band and rotation.
  • We verify certificates against issuing authorities and validate sea service before placement.
  • We do not publish aspirational or bait listings to harvest applications.

4. Reporting fraud in our name

  • We will never contact you from a free webmail domain, never ask for payment via wire transfer, mobile money, gift cards or crypto, and never ask for fees "to release" a contract, visa or join-date.
  • If anyone asks you for money in connection with a job at Anchorline, it is a scam. Report it through our contact page with any messages or payment requests you received, and report it to your national authorities.

5. Licensing note

Anchorline Maritime operates as a licensed recruitment and placement service in its jurisdiction and holds the required manning agency licenses in each country where it recruits. License details and the responsible officer are published here once registration is completed, and are available on request meanwhile.
